“He said, ‘Come.’ So Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water and came to Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid, and beginning to sink he cried out, ‘Lord, save me.’ Jesus immediately reached out his hand and took hold of him, saying to him, ‘O you of little faith, why did you doubt?’“
Friend, how long will you wait for everyone else to get on board before you move and be the person God is calling you to be? If not now, when? If not here, where? If not you, who? God has called you to step out in faith! Out of the boat into the unknown where Jesus is. You already know the things and people He has placed on your heart to reach. You already know the things He has told you to let go of and the groups of people He has told you to avoid. You already know what He has called you to do. It’s time to cast away your net (comfort zone) and go be a fisher of men.
Lately, I have been asking God to shift my life. I mean really sift it and shake it up. I do not want any of me left, only Him. I want to be completely “souled” out. All in.
If people are afraid of what man will say and what man will do, they can never be used to the fullest by God. We cannot worry about followers, likes, appearances, images, platforms, opportunities of the world, and so forth when we are focused on pleasing God. I am all for love and I am also all for truth. There is no truth without love and there is no love without truth. They are One in the same because that is who God is.
Friend, if God has called you to go out and minister to your neighbors, go.
If He has called you to put aside all distractions and focus on Him, do it.
If He has called you to speak on a topic that the world feels strongly about and you know popular culture will shun you, speak on it.
If He has called you to sell all your things and give what you have to the homeless, so be it.
It’s time for us to move.
That is the type of faith I strive for. That is the type of relationship with God I hunger and thirst after. God needs more Kingdom laborers and not just more people sitting at the table daily asking and asking Him for more and more, but never praying, reading, loving, sacrificing, thanking, and being obedient in faith.
I am praying God sends more people my way who truly desire to live for Him. Who want to know Him. Who understand that living for Him means being persecuted and hated by the world. Who aren’t afraid for people to turn their backs on them. Who don’t get offended when truth is spoken. Who are serious about our Lord and Savior.
Christianity as whole has become complacent, y’all – and I say this with love. But people nowadays are measuring themselves among themselves. I have been guilty of this before too, so don’t ever think I’m shaming you if this hits home today. I’m trying to wake the church up because I care. This is important. The Christian culture has gotten into the habit of saying “At least I am doing more than her and him” or “At least I don’t do that sin.” But that’s not the way it should be. Let’s not be like the Pharisee in that one parable with the tax collector. Let’s instead only strive to imitate Christ. Strive for His righteousness and His way and His will and His love. His perfect example for us.
Many people around you may think you are doing too much when you really start living for God the way He has called you and I to, but, friend, so what? There are people out there who are depending on us to be obedient. Their breakthrough may be locked away in our faithfulness. In our testimonies. In our obedience. Can you imagine if Moses, Esther, Abraham, Paul, Isaac, and many others of the Bible listed in the Hall of Faith (Hebrews 12) had decided to go by what they felt at the moment and not did what God called them to do because they lacked faith and were led by feelings?
We have to keep our eyes on the Lord at all times and not on the chaos of this fallen world. Lest, we be like Peter and begin to quickly sink at the sight of the storm and the strength of the winds bearing down on us. Step out of the boat in faith. Walk on water. When we feel the desire to run to safety, those are the best moments to stand tall and walk out in faith instead. To love others harder. To show mercy faster. To grow deeper. To speak boldly. To trust Him fully.
The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few…
Work while it is yet day for night comes when no man can work…
I want to see souls saved. I want to see chains being broken. I want to see people being delivered. I want to see the love of God being poured into the most hardened of hearts. I want see genuine change and growth in not just others, but myself as well. Who else?
God has much in store for those who seek Him diligently in this season no matter the cost. Be blessed. ♥
